Float Trips
(We recommend the San Juan and the Rio Grande River in Southern Colorado)

The Rio Grande in southern Colorado offers some of the finest trout fishing in Colorado. On a scale of 1 to 10 this is a definite 10! Thirty plus miles of river to float, including private and gold medal stretches, ranging from pocket water to meandering meadows. The Rio Grande River is a consistent producer of large trout. Floats range from 5 to 16 miles a day and are done in Mackenzie style drift boats or specialized rafts. This is western dry fly fishing in an absolutely majestic setting and is a must do for all serious, as well as, beginning fly fishermen.

New Mexico's San Juan River is a world-class fishery visited by anglers from all over the globe. This year round tail water fishery holds an incredible number of large fish. Small flies and accurate drifts are the keys to success on this high desert river. Most trips incorporate floating the river along with wading in select spots. Every fly fisherman should experience the San Juan, at least once in his or her lifetime. Spend a day with a guide from Southwest Flyfishing and take the mystery out of this great river.

Wade Trips
(We recommend the Jemez Mountain streams, and in northern New Mexico the Cimarron, Costilla Creek, Red River, and Rio Hondo.)

Small streams are where most of us learn to fish. A love affair with streams can last a lifetime. Some of Southwest Flyfishing's fondest memories are of small streams, brightly colored trout and breathtaking scenery. Stream fishing in New Mexico is a wonderful mix of terrain and trout. Each of these small flowing gems has a distinct character all it's own. If you have never learned to fish these little treasures you are truly missing out. Small streams are jewels that should be experienced by the beginning fly fisherman and revisited by the seasoned angler.

Kickboat Trips

Picture yourself quietly floating across a beautiful mountain lake as you stare up at the clouds passing by. You are suddenly jolted back to reality as your fly reel screams and your rod bends. A large rainbow trout leaps and cartwheels in front of you. Welcome to the world of float tube fishing. Fish tend to grow large in the fertile lakes of New Mexico. The wide-open spaces of lakes allow fish to showcase their fighting ability. There are many fine lakes in New Mexico and we also have access to fantastic private ponds that may require an additional rod fee. Come join us on an exciting kick boat trip and learn about still water tactics and techniques with the best.
Package Trips
Southwest Flyfishing is now offering a unique chance to fish different waters on consecutive days. These multiple day trips are especially appealing to our many out-of-state clients, giving them a chance to experience some of the best fisheries in the southwest. Trips will be customized to fit each client's wishes and needs in addition to taking full advantage of which rivers, streams, or lakes are fishing the best. One example would be two full days floating and wading the San Juan in northern New Mexico, followed by two days on the Rio Grande in southern Colorado, which is also a float or wade, depending on river conditions. The Rio Grande in New Mexico is truly an incredible place to hike in and fish for a day or two and would be a great finish to this fishing adventure. Many other rivers, lakes and streams can be added or changed for the above-mentioned destinations. It is our goal to provide you with a truly unique and personalized fishing experience.
